The Buildings of Main Street Poster Now Available

By Keith Mahne

Friends, I have something REALLY cool to tell you about! Artist and friend of Disney Avenue, Chris Buchholz just released another spectacular Disney poster that will, once again, allow us to bring the magic of Disney to our own homes. With Christmas soon approaching, I can't think of a better Christmas gift to any Disney fan in your family. Join me after the page break and I'll fill you in on this amazing, new poster...

Chris Buchholz is an artist, illustrator, and Disney World aficionado. Last November he brought to his Etsy store the fantastic Disney Attraction and Transportation Vehicles Poster, which features illustrations of 92 WDW ride vehicles on a 22" X 28" poster...

Since then he has been working hard on a new poster design, this time taking on the buildings of Main Street U.S.A. That poster is now available as a 24" x 36" on his Etsy store which you can find here.

He is now accepting orders and it's the perfect time to grab a great holiday gift for yourself or any Disney friend or family member! Chris tells me that this poster was a wonderful challenge, since Disney is constantly updating and refurbishing. He says it was amazing to see how often subtle aspects of these buildings change in the course of a year, things are repainted, color schemes alter slightly, awnings change color. He really endeavored to capture the details and intricacies of each building as they are at one given point in time. It's amazing how Disney never seems to repeat architectural elements, two buildings never have the same windows; the spindles, cupolas, moldings, and window treatments are all unique to themselves, showing just how far the Imagineers are willing to go to provide us with an unforgettable experience.

During his trips to WDW over the past couple of years he has been gathering sketches and reference photos of all the buildings and storefronts of Main Street. Take a look at Chris' beautiful sketches below, including some of the ones which were done as research for the Main Street Poster project....

When he's not doing digital illustration he most enjoys doing sketchbook artwork on his travels. In fact, if you happen to be in WDW sometime during the winter months you may possibly see Chris, head looking up at some Disney landmark oblivious to the crowd, standing with a sketchbook in one hand, and colored pencils or a travel watercolor palette in the other. One of his favorite subjects is ride queues, especially some of the ones in Animal Kingdom such as Kali River Rapids or Expedition Everest. "Disney World is a sketcher's paradise," Chris tells me. He says, "There is so much to draw here, architecture from anywhere in the world and from past, future, and present. I could draw forever here, and I'd still feel like I'm just scratching the surface."

Make sure to grab one of Chris' beautiful posters. In fact, Chris is offering BOTH posters together for ONE LOW PRICE! Don't miss out on this great deal and bring a little bit of Disney to your home. Click here for Chris' entire Etsy store and get lost in the beauty of his work.
