Vintage Disney Recruiting Brochures You Have To See

By Keith Mahne

I hear being a Disney cast member back in the day was not just a job but a career. Walt knew how to take care of his employees. He knew if he took care of them they would take care of his Park and his guests. Pretty smart guy, but you already knew that. In the late 1970s, this tradition was still being utilized by the Walt Disney Company and their tactics for recruiting new cast members to continue Walt's legacy was pretty amazing...at least to look at. In today's new article, we have a couple of remarkable, and beautiful, late 1970s Disney recruiting brochures that you have got to see...

Before we get into the brochure, it's important to let you read and see this August 5th, 1977 letter from Card Walker (pictured above) to new cast members that accompanied the brochure. Have a look...

The new cast member Disney brochure was called “Your Role with Disney” and it was absolutely remarkable. See for yourself...

WOW! There is no denying that the Walt Disney Company of the late 1970s sure did look like an incredible place to work. I know if I had just been hired and read this brochure I'd be pumped and ready to start spreading some magic.

Another great brochure from around the same time used to recruit new cast members for WED Enterprises (now Imagineering) and MAPO was this one called "Mickey Wants You" and it is packed with wonderful information and spectacular images. It was used to recruit the nation's top creative people in a variety of professional and technical fields to create EPCOT Center...

What I would give to be a part of that magical time. Walt Disney World was morphing into the vacation kingdom of the world and some of the best attractions in history were being dreamed up. I can only imagine the creative spirit in the air. There is no doubt that this was the best time to be a cast member and Imagineer at Disney and thanks to recruiting brochures like these, the nation's best did come together to create the most magical place on earth.
