Come On Everybody and Mousercise!

By Keith Mahne

If you were a kid growing up in the 80s, chances are you were a HUGE fan of Disney's Mousercise. In 1982, Disney jumped on the popular aerobics trend and released the exercise album Mousercise. The record was a mix of updated classic Disney songs along with characters giving exercise instructions. The album evolved into the the greatest exercise show known to mankind. Join us today as we remember this Disney Channel classic...

Mousercise started out as an album that included an instructional booklet with different “Mousercises” (exercises)...

The original album was such a success among children and Disney fans that it led to the creation of one of the very first Disney Channel TV series in 1983. And who could forget that catchy theme song...

Mousercise aired weekday mornings and was hosted by Kellyn Plasschaert. The show featured regular segments on exercise, safety, health and nutrition. It also featured Mickey Mouse, along with other Disney characters exercising with a group of kids...

One of the best parts of the program was that fans could even get their own membership certificate to Mousercise...

In 1985, Disney released the show on home video...

Disney also began marketing other Mousercise related items as well, like coloring books and snazzy aerobic clothing…

During the height of the show's popularity, Disneyland would put on special Mousercise events that featured the show's popular host, Kellyn Plasschaert...

As the aerobics trend slowly began to fade away in the late 80s so did the show. Disney made an attempt to re-launch a updated version of Mousercise in 2005, but it just wasn't the same. For instance, compare the 2005 theme song that you can hear below to the original one you heard earlier...

See what I mean. I think we can all agree that the original Mousercise will go down in history as THE BEST exercise show to ever grace a television set. And now, come on everybody let's MOUSERCISE...
