New Music Added to the Disney Avenue Music Player: Walt Disney Takes You to Disneyland (1956)

By Keith Mahne

I'm at it again friends!! I just added another magical addition to the Disney Avenue Music Player and, as always, had to let you know immediately! Join me after the page break and let's take a listen as Walt takes us on a "musical tour of Disneyland"...

A big THANK YOU goes out to a really good friend of Disney Avenue, Brian Vermillion, for bringing this to my attention again recently. I can't think of a better addition to add to the Disney Avenue Music Player than this album. Now let's check it out shall we...

(While you read about this amazing album, select the playlist button in the top left corner. Scroll all the way down to the bottom and have a listen to the record while you read about it below. Remember, the Disney Avenue Music Player is not compatible on a mobile device.)

“Walt Disney Takes You to Disneyland” by Disneyland Records and recorded by the Walt Disney Music Co. with the Disneyland Concert Orchestra is a absolute pleasure to the ears! A historic record for many reasons, it was originally released in 1956 from Disney's then newly created in-house record label, and is the first record they actually released. The album is a musical audio tour of Disneyland narrated by Walt Disney himself! Walt takes you to Main Street USA, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. A set of theme music was created specifically for each themed "land" on the album. In turn, the music for each land was prepared by different composers. Many attractions Walt mentions are long gone, so it's historic in that sense as well. It's also accompanied by voices and sound effects to make you feel as if you are there. Run time is about 35 minutes in length.

Check out the inside of the original LP:

Don't have a record player but would like to add these songs to your own collection? No worries, Disney released a CD version recently that is a faithful recreation of the original one released in 1956. Not only are the tracks the same, but the cardboard packaging is made to look like the album of old. Here is a link directly to Amazon for you to grab a copy for yourself or any Disney fan in your family. Enjoy:
